History
SETPRAS was formed in London, UK in 2011 by several plastic surgery trainees who felt that there was a demand for an organisation that provides free educational resources for anyone hoping to pursue a career in plastic surgery, including those at undergraduate level. Following our initial meetings, a mission statement and aims of the society were drafted
Aims
- SETPRAS - Our aims as a society are to create an organisation that allows the sharing of ideas, information and educational resources between members with a common interest in plastic surgery
- Website - This website was created to act as a focus for SETPRAS members to interact (through our discussion boards) and also to provide learning resources free to all visitors. We envisage members being able to download presentations on topics they are unfamiliar with and not only use the resources provided as educational tools, but also, should they need to deliver a presentation at short notice, they may download any available on our website
Future
We aim to encourage all doctors and medical students with an interest in plastic surgery to join SETPRAS, including those from outside the UK. We feel this will help to provide the society with different viewpoints and perspectives in the ever-changing world of plastic surgery. With membership spanning not just postgraduate trainees, but also undergraduates, we hope to become an essential resource for all members
We would encourage trainees not just to join the society, but also to volunteer to get involved in a more hands-on way. We are always looking for dedicated and creative members to take on more formal roles within SETPRAS. If you would be interested, please contact the secretary at secretary@setpras.org
As the SETPRAS grows, we hope that our aims will evolve with the changing needs of members and feel excited about the direction the society will take in the future!
